Achilles Tendonitis
Achilles tendonitis is an overuse injury of the Achilles tendon, which connects the calf muscles to the heel bone. It commonly develops in adults, especially runners and athletes, and is most prevalent in individuals aged 30–50. This condition occurs when the tendon becomes inflamed due to excessive strain.
Often, this happens because of a compensatory pattern — overusing the calf muscles due to weakness in the glutes and hamstrings (hip extensors). Achilles tendonitis is much easier to treat in its early stages. If left untreated, it can progress into tendinopathy, which may take months or even years to fully recover from.
