Understanding Back Pain and Sciatica

Back pain and sciatica are among the most common complaints we see. Whether your discomfort stems from herniated discs, poor posture, or muscle imbalances, it’s essential to address the root cause for effective, long-term relief. Sciatica, often characterized by shooting pain, numbness, or tingling down the leg, can result from pressure on the sciatic nerve caused by conditions like spinal stenosis or disc herniation.

Common Causes of Back & Sciatica Pain:

Why Address Pain Early?

Ignoring back or sciatica pain can lead to worsening symptoms and limited mobility. Many patients come to us after months—or even years—of discomfort, often compounded by additional issues like neck pain or shoulder stiffness. Early intervention with physical therapy can prevent further complications and help you get back to your life sooner.

I began seeing Ray for my plantar fasciitis a couple months ago. I was in the middle of my season and was concerned I was not going to be able to keep playing. However, Ray worked with me to manage my pain and my symptoms to get me through the rest of the season. As an athlete you want to be able to compete at your best but in a safe way for your body and Ray helps achieve that goal. Not only was he able to help me with pain management but he also spent time helping to elevate my overall flexibility and strength to improve my symptoms and also improve my athletic measurables. During the season I also developed pain in my hamstring and he was able to use different modalities to continue to allow me to play. Ray is always ready to listen to you and improve and try new things when the plan might not be working, which I really appreciate. During my off-season he has been working with me to get a plan together that both strengthens and pushes me so I can be ready for when my next season begins. I cannot talk more highly of my experience with Ray. I recommend him to all my other teammates and my husband has even started to see him and has also seen a rise in his level of play.

For years I suffered with debilitating migraines that affected my life majorly. I finally met a neurologist that suggested physical therapy because I had adverse reactions to medication and had found no relief from other alternative therapies. I could not be more happy with the results. Our time together has changed my life and given me the tools to be able to manage my pain. I have my life back! Ray is very skilled and knowledgeable. If you do the work he suggests you will see improvement.
